What is the PML GP Federation?
The PML Federation of GPs is a not-for-profit collaboration involving almost 50 GP practices in Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire, and serving a population of over 500,000 registered patients. In Oxfordshire, the PML Federation is the largest collaborative group of GPs in the county, involving 32 of the county’s GP practices. In South Northamptonshire 15 GP practices are involved.
As GP members, you remain independent providers but work together on shared projects and schemes, which are managed through the corporate services provided by PML. Our offices in Banbury provide administrative and management support, as well as expertise in governance and strategic planning.
We know that by working together we can develop services that reach a broader geographical area, and meet the specific needs of local populations. We coordinate as a Federation to work at scale and deliver NHS services commissioned by the local NHS. PML holds a number of NHS contracts to deliver a range of primary care and community services, employing both frontline clinical staff and ‘behind the scenes’ support teams.
What are we doing together?
We are working together to provide a range of services, and to take on exciting new contracts. These include, but are not limited to:
- Neighbourhood Access Hubs to support General Practices in Oxfordshire.
- The Primary Care Visiting Service (PCVS) works across your member practices to provide emergency home visits to patients.
- A new Clinical Pharmacist, working with DocMed.
- The Collaborative Care Team provides a proactive, coordinated approach to patient care. The service supports and empowers patients and carers to take control of their identified needs and to live their lives as independently as possible.
The PML Federation is always aiming to improve our patient services and by working together we can improve efficiency and save you time and money.
